Liners

Liners are provided between ERC and rail flange to avoid point contact of Elastic Rail Clip toe over the flange. The basic requirement of good liner is the gap between the rail flange and MCI insert which should be equal to the appropriate 'liner tip width' and liners are seated evenly on rail flange before clip is applied. Commonly used Liners are of two types i.e.,

(A) Glass Filled Nylon Liners (GFN) and

(B) Mild Steel Liners.

GFN Liners are used in Track circuited areas whereas, Metal Liners are used in Non-Track circuited areas.

(A) GFN Liners

(A) GFN Liners

Brief Description

GFN Liners are used in track circuited areas. Where the Rail secton is of 60 Kg and Sleeper is also of 60 Kg, GFN Liners as per RDSO drawing No. RT-3706 are used on both Gauge and Non-Gauge face sides of the rail. GFN Liners as per RDSO drawing No.RT-3707 & RT-3708 are used on inner and outer sides respectively, when 52 kg rails are used with 60 kg sleepers.

Brief Description

Metal Liners are used in non-track circuited areas. Where the Rail secton is of 60 Kg and Sleeper is also of 60 Kg, Metal Liners as per RDSO drawing No.RT-3740 are used on both Gauge and Non-Gauge face sides of the rail. Metal Liners as per RDSO drawing No.RT-3741 & RT-3742 are used on inner side and outer side respectively, when 52 kg rails are used with 60 kg sleepers .
